Unique Benefits

Dental Implants

Dental implants have many unique benefits for tooth restoration. First, they can easily last over 30 years with proper care. They also will never move or shift, so your teeth will look and feel completely natural for a lifetime.

Additionally, dental implants support the health and strength of your jaw bone, just like natural teeth do. This prevents bone resorption, a common side effect of tooth loss.

The First Stage

Implant Placement

Dental implant placement is the first step to restoring your smile. After Dr. Tath approves you for treatment and creates your implant placement plan, you’ll come into our office for the first part of the procedure. Your mouth will be cleaned and numbed, and Dr. Tath will create a small opening in the gum and jaw tissue.

A screw-shaped, titanium dental implant will be placed into this opening. Then, the area will be sutured shut and disinfected. This process will be repeated if you’re having multiple implants. Once your appointment is over, you’ll be sent home to heal. It takes 1-2 weeks to heal from the initial placement process, but it takes 3-6 months for your implant to fully bond with your jaw bone.

Implant Restoration

While your mouth is healing, Dr. Pon Tath will begin creating an implant restoration such as a crown, bridge, or denture, which will attach to your implant and restore your smile. You will come in for several follow-ups during the 3-6 month healing process, and Dr. Pon Tath will work with a dental lab to create a custom-fitted restoration that will look and feel completely natural.

Once your mouth has healed completely and your implant has bonded with your jawbone, you will come in for a final appointment. Your implant restoration will be attached to your dental implant to restore your smile permanently.

Caring For Your New Smile

Implant Maintenance

As long as you brush your implants and your implant-supported restorations properly and follow Dr. Tath’s instructions for proper dental care, your smile will remain in great shape for years to come. When you come in for your regular six-month teeth cleaning and oral exam, we will clean and check your implants to ensure they’re staying strong.

Restore Your Missing Teeth

Single-Tooth Implants

Single-tooth implants are the most common type of implant. They consist of a single dental implant, and a dental crown that is used to replace your missing tooth. Whether you’re missing one or several teeth, this type of implant is a great option. They require little care or maintenance outside of regular brushing and flossing, and single-tooth implants look and feel completely natural.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Mini Implants

As the name suggests, mini implants are about half the size of traditional dental implants. This means they can be placed even if your jaw bone is somewhat weak, and they heal more quickly than traditional implants. Most commonly, a set of 4-6 mini implants is used to support a set of lower full-arch dentures. They provide a strong hold, and your dentures will not move or shift, unlike with traditional dentures.
